"When it comes to pageants winning isn’t everything, when you get up on stage you are already a winner"
When did your passion for the pinup scene start?
I started wearing the clothing in 2014 and entered the community in 2016.
What kind of style are you influenced by?
I’m a rockabilly gal at heart with a soft spot for tiki.
Who is most influential to your style?
I think I really just developed my own style. I sew all my own clothing and make my own accessories, and I like to be a little wild. Everyone expects me turn up in something off the wall.

I love a few eras but the 50’s are my favourite

Tell us about your makeup routine and how long it takes you?
My makeup can take up to an hour. I cleanse and do my eye brows if they need a touch up. I use a good primer. Concealer, dermcol if I’ll be having photos that day, setting powder, contour, foundation, powder, eyebrow powder, eye shadow, gel eyeliner, white eyeliner, mascara, lashes and setting spray.
How do you set and style your hair?
I do own a few wigs which I style myself using foam rollers and steam. But when styling my own hair I usually wet set over night using The Sunshine Coast pinup schools setting spray. Foam rollers in a range of sizes and a satin sleeping cap! In the morning I use a paddle style brush out brush to brush my curls into submission, pomade and some good old Coles home brand hairspray because it’s the bomb. Having bright red hair I source my red Bobbie pins from Velvet Roses Pinup dressing room. I make most of my own hair pieces to complete my hair do.
What's your best kept secret?
Sticky tape to make my wings straight is my best secret shhhh!
A little bit more about Miss Cherree Velvet
Pinup is just a way of life; it is my life. I’ve never been part of something where I have felt so accepted. I love creating outfits for myself and my pinup sisters and I love that my son pinups as a girl as Tullulah Von cup cake. He shares my love for this life and will often join me on days out and loves the stage. When it comes to pageants winning isn’t everything, when you get up on stage you are already a winner, it takes guts to do what we do. Also vintage shopping is amazing! I’ve travelled to America for some of the best vintage shops I have ever seen.
