Pinup Secrets with Ella Von Dame

Ella Von Dame is a pinup from Alabama. She is ambitious with fabulous make up skills and her very own YouTube channel

Mobile, Alabama

When did your passion for the pinup scene start?

I’ve always loved old 40s music since I was a little girl. One day I was watching the movie Suckerpunch and even though it’d be more along the lines of steampunk, it made me randomly obsessed with rockabilly. It’s so odd!

What kind of style are you influenced by?

I feel I’m a mix between 50's school girl and a rockabilly vixen! I love to wear knee length skirts and cardigans but also love to have a low cut top with a pencil skirt!

Who is most influential to your style?

I’d have to say Wanda from Crybaby and Dita Von Teese mix!

What is your favourite era?

Oddly enough I think my favourite era would have to be the 80's and 90's! But the 40's-60's fashion era suits me way better!

What are your Top 5 must have items for being the pinup you are?

1: Red lips

2: Lashes

3: Pearl necklace

4: Starburst earrings

5: And a smile!

Tell us about your makeup routine and how long it takes you?

For start I use my Smashbox Primerizer on my freshly cleaned face. I then do my eyebrows (I like to use a powder more of the time), clean them up, my eye makeup, foundation, highlight, baking, powder contour, highlight, and lips! Oh and of course I use a setting spray! (I actually have a YouTube video on this!)

How do you set and style your hair?

My hair is naturally very curly so I like to do overnight wetsets to keep my hair healthy! I use Suavecita’s grooming spray while setting them and before I brush my curls out, I run some Suavecita pomade through them and then do my brushout and hairspray!

What's your best kept secret?

It’s the cute vintage perfume one! Apply perfume to the side of your neck and wrists for a long lasting good smell!

A little bit more about Ella Von Dame

Well occasionally I do YouTube tutorials on pinup hairstyles for curly girls like myself! I also paint as a side job! I’m soon going to be learning how to sew so I can start making my own pinup clothes instead of breaking the bank buying them!
